Football Recruiting Forms - Make Sure You Use Them at the Right Time by gary v hawkins

If you are getting serious about playing football in college, you are probably visiting the websites of college teams and looking at the football recruiting forms they ask you to complete. These forms are usually pretty long and ask you about your football stats, your key athletic information, and for your contact information. These forms are often called profiles and they can take a lot of time to complete.

Should you complete these football recruiting forms? I say Yes and No! How is that for a clear answer?

Why you should fill out these forms:

Coaches use these forms as a way of gathering a pool of potential recruits. The forms are accessible to anyone, so the coaches can usually count on getting a lot of players forms or profiles. The more popular football programs in America can ultimately receive thousands of these forms from potential players.
I think you should take the time to complete these football recruiting forms, but not as your first step!

Why you should not fill out these forms:

Before you fill out one of these profiles, you should first contact a coach with a letter and an athletic resume. The reason why is pretty clear. Had you rather just be one in the stack of one thousand, or one of just a few personal letters and athletic resumes the coach has on his desk? Which one do you think has a better chance of actually being read?

My experience has shown me that once a coach receives a personal letter and an athletic resume from you, they will usually ask you to complete their online football recruiting forms. Once they are looking for your profile form, they will actually take the time to look it over and read it, which is what you wanted in the first place.

Take the time to market and promote yourself to college coaches by contacting them directly. Don't count on football recruiting forms to get the coach interested in you. Make sure you so something different and stand out from the crowd
